VERONICA WALKER

Feature Interview with Veronika Walker Mrs. Edinburgh 2025

Model | Philanthropist | Entrepreneur

What first sparked your interest in your creative field?

My interest in modelling and pageantry was sparked by watching women on stage as a young girl—strong, elegant, radiant. I saw not just beauty but purpose. As I grew, that spark turned into a personal mission to use fashion and visual storytelling as a voice for women like me—women with stories, resilience, and a desire to give back.

What has been the most challenging project or situation in your career, and how did you handle it?

Raising £117,000 for charity while balancing motherhood, entrepreneurship, and pageantry was one of the biggest challenges. It took unwavering focus, time management, and emotional discipline. But when your mission is bigger than yourself, you find strength in the service of others.

How do you relax and unwind from the pressures of your work?

I spend time with my children and husband—simple moments at home, a walk in nature, music, or even silence. I also hold a degree in both music and business, so I often return to the piano and saxophone. That connection to creativity keeps me grounded.

How has your creative process evolved throughout your career?

In the beginning, I focused on visuals. Now, it’s about voice. Every campaign, every shoot, and every appearance is rooted in intention. Fashion became my platform, but advocacy became my purpose.

As a child, what did you aspire to become, and how does it compare to where you are now?

As a child, I aspired to be a strong woman in uniform, even applying to military college in Lithuania, but when life’s challenges led me to London in search of a brighter future, I discovered a passion for being seen and heard on stage; today, I embrace that stage with a profound sense of purpose, transformed by the strength I gained from overcoming obstacles along the way.

Which project in your career do you feel has had the most impact, and why?

Raising funds and awareness for Cancer Research UK, Edinburgh Women’s Aid, and Neonatal Units has been life-changing. These are deeply personal causes that touch real lives—and knowing my efforts brought hope makes it the most impactful work I’ve done.

How does your cultural background influence your personal and professional life?

Growing up in Lithuania gave me resilience. Moving to the UK at 18 with no English, no place to stay, and £500 in my pocket taught me independence and resilience. That duality—Eastern strength and Western opportunity—shapes how I lead, serve, and build.

Can you describe a milestone in your career that was particularly meaningful to you?

One of the most meaningful milestones in my career was earning my business degree in a new country and language, symbolising my resilience and adaptability. Additionally, becoming Mrs. Edinburgh 2025 and securing 1st Runner-Up at Miss Great Britain 2023 were incredible moments, but launching my platform for women’s empowerment truly defines my journey. Knowing that I’m helping others rebuild after experiencing trauma, like my own journey through domestic abuse, has been the most fulfilling achievement of all.

Outside of work, what is a hobby or activity you enjoy that might surprise people?

Outside of work, I have a few hobbies that might surprise people: I hold a degree in music and find peace and expression in playing the piano, saxophone, and clarinet. A memorable moment was surprising my husband and friends by playing saxophone with the band on our wedding day. I also love lifting weights and boxing, which energise me and empower my spirit. Recently, I’ve fallen in love with golf, inspired by my husband, and we’re already planning to compete in mixed tournaments together.

How have you adapted to changes in your industry over the years?

By embracing authenticity. The industry is moving from perfection to purpose—and I’ve grown by aligning my image with my impact. I don’t just wear the crown; I speak through it.

Is there a book or movie that has significantly influenced your personal or professional perspective?

A movie that has significantly influenced my perspective is Legally Blonde, which beautifully illustrates the power of determination and individuality. It shows that with hard work and self-belief, we can defy stereotypes and achieve our goals. Additionally, my favourite book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey, offers timeless principles for personal and professional success, emphasising proactive behaviour, goal-setting, and effective communication. I apply these lessons in my everyday life by staying positive, motivated, and driven in everything I do.

What piece of advice would you give to someone starting out in your field?

Start before you feel ready. Don’t chase perfection—chase purpose. Know your why, show up with heart, and never forget that your story is your strength.

Do you have a personal philosophy or mantra that guides your life and work decisions?

Yes: ‘You are the author of your own life story; make it a good one.’ By Susan C. Youg. That belief carried me from surviving to thriving—and now it guides everything I do.

If resources were not a constraint, what would be your dream project?

If resources were not a constraint, my dream project would be to launch a global foundation dedicated to empowering women to rebuild their lives after trauma, particularly those recovering from domestic violence. Drawing from my own experiences, I would focus on providing education, mentorship, and financial support, all while merging fashion and advocacy on an international stage to inspire and uplift others.

How do you balance your personal life and needs with your professional responsibilities?

I have adapted to changes in my industry by embracing authenticity; as it shifts from perfection to purpose, I’ve aligned my image with my impact, focusing not on titles or fame but on kindness, a drive for positive change in our community, and the value of friendship.
