LOS ANGELES FASHION WEEK
We don’t know a lot about love, but we know Love is everything. There is a city where the first statement you read and see around is: “Everyone is welcome”. This city is Los Angeles. The city of lights has a big plus: you can be yourself, you can lose yourself, as much as you want, until you become the real you. Between money and careers, LA is hugging you with no judgment, letting you try everything you want to try.
The city of lights offers you the right space to introduce yourself to the West Coast. That’s why when you go to the fashion week you can meet and stand opposite wonderful designers and fashion shows, that’s why Hollywood Boulevard is the perfect red carpet for you and your creations. I went to the last edition and I am getting ready for the new one. I was confused the first day. I came from the Italian and French fashion weeks, and to find myself in the middle of that great Californian energy left me speechless. Between smiles and a high quality of shows, colours and wonderful guests were popping up all around me. Designers? The incredible Maison the Faux, the highly elegant Michael Leyva, the poetry of Nicholas Mayfield. Just to name a few. Under the eye of the awesome talented host and gentleman Arthur Chipman, and the support of Porsche Beverly Hills and other sponsors, I really loved talking to the designers, so different one from the other. Nicholas Mayfield, who created clothes for Snoop Dogg, Nicholas Mayfield handpainted collectionE40, and many more:“Raymond, this is the age of the true human culture. We have the choice to freely choose our true liking and tribes, no more square boxes. I’m gonna have here a culture walk, not a fashion show”. And more: “I found out that visuals are the way of our age to show a message to receive in a very short attention span. Listening has gone out of style”.Watching so many expressions of love, of passion, of positive vibes is what the LA fashion week gives us. What a big gift! In a fashion world, dominated by the rules of money and friends in the right places, this gift is a lot. Yes, some of those designers are dressing celebrities for the red carpets, but how beautiful is it to see them all together getting ready to give life to those wonderful performances we had the chance to attend? Many styles, many ways to see the meaning of fashion, but one love: that love for their dreams that leads them all together for 3 days of events, under the stars of LA.That love that doesn’t stop at the end of the day. Because after the charming ironic and iconic show of Maison the Faux, Joris, the mind behind this maison, says to me: “This was just the beginning, the Roosvelt hotel is waiting for us to keep celebrating life and art, join us Raymond”. This is what fashion should be, a celebration of life. This is the LA fashion week.
